John H. Kim, DDS
Dr. John Kim graduated from the University of Michigan with a degree in civil engineering in 1996. Later, he pursued his interests in engineering smiles by graduating from University of Maryland School of Dentistry in 2002. His dental education continued with post-graduate residency training at the University of California, Los Angeles. In this position, he treated a wide range of medically compromised and dental phobic patients. Dr. Kim also completed an oral surgery internship at the West Los Angeles Veterans Medical Center where he served as chief resident in 2005.
Dr. Kim found his true interest in treating patients with jaw pain, facial pain, and sleep apnea. A two-year fellowship in Orofacial Pain and Dental Sleep Medicine was completed at UCLA in 2009, where he was again elected as chief resident. There are only 6 such programs in the US with less than two dozen graduates per year in the United States.
Dr. Kim is uniquely qualified as one of the only dentists who double-board certified by The American Board of Orofacial Pain and the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine. Dr. Kim is currently a member of the American Dental Association, California Dental Association, and the Orange County Dental Society and speaks regularly at study clubs with other dentists.
Originally from Washington D.C., Dr. Kim found his home in Southern California where he met his wife. In his spare time, Dr. Kim enjoys coaching his son’s basketball team, playing princess tea party with his daughter, and finding good eats with his wife.
